I had worked with Christopher Tin as an editor and was very excited that he could compose for my film. I had used various pieces from Turkish musicians in my roughcut and Chris suggested that I try to get one of the artists to contribute to the soundtrack. Without a doubt, the person I wanted was Omar Faruk Tekbilek. I first heard Omar’s music ten years ago and had purchased several cds throughout the years. I contacted his manager, Ofer Ziv, and a few phone calls later, we were planning a recording session! Recording took place at Sonic Fuel Studios in Venice, California with Jeff Vaughn at the controls and Chris leading the session. Omar is a multi-talented instrumentalist and with him, I got a virtual one man band . . . and a beautiful soundtrack.
Christopher Tin is a composer whose career spans all major markets: film,
television, video games, advertising, and the record industry. His music
is marked by a natural ease of melody, and a strong sense of direction and
purpose; his orchestrations are economic yet lush, and layered with counterpoint.
He is a native Californian, born of Chinese descent, and educated in England,
and his aesthetic sensibilities are a blend of European formalism, Asian
transparency and American commercial accessibility.

Omar Faruk Tekbilek is honored as a peacemaker and virtuoso, and is one
of the most sought-after Turkish/Middle Eastern musicians living in the
United States. Relentless worldwide touring and an openness to music from
all cultures position him as a rare artist who transcends political obstacles
while maintaining traditional sensibilities in a way few artists can manage.
He is a virtuoso on several instruments: the nay (bamboo flute), the zurna
(double-reed oboe like instrument), the baglama (long-necked lute) and various
percussion instruments , as well as a masterful performer on dozens more.
